Having a baby? Alaska Air will now let you put your status on hold with “Elite Leave”
Alaska Air has quickly become my favorite airline program. I status matched to their top tier status, MVP 75, from AA Executive Platinum and have pivoted loyalty. In a time when airlines are marginalizing the average flyer, devaluing their programs, and introducing revenue requirements, Alaska has made strident efforts to communicate their customer centric strategy, increase mileage earning possibilities, and forging new partnerships. They’ve gone and done it again with “Elite Leave,” a program that allows you to put your status on hold while you’re on parental leave.
“Elite Leave” as described by Alaska Air
A brand-new program enabling Alaska Mileage Plan elite members to extend status for an additional year when they go on parental leave. That means members who have taken or will take a parental leave that ends this year can extend their status through the end of 2018. In future years, status will be extended through the calendar year following the end of leave.
This is a huge deal for expecting parents and quite a relief for those looking to keep Elite benefits for their new, growing family.
Here’s how it works:
