FINALLYYYYYY LIE FLAT!!!!!!!
According to an article in USA Today Hawaiian is adding a sleek, new, Lie-flat product to their first class cabin. It will be introduced on their A330s in the 2nd quarter of 2016 and striving for completion sometime between September 2016 and Spring of 2017.
I’m a FANNNNN!!!!!
Me, Miles, and the Missus have been looking for an excuse to stretch out, lay back, and unwind on some sun soaked beaches. It’s unclear, at this point, which routes will be serviced first, but the 2-2-2 cabin lends itself to leisure travel, which is probably the reason it’s taken this long to get lie flat. The business demand needed to support the investment needed to overhaul the plane hasn’t been there, so this is an exciting proposition for couples and families.
At this point, Hawaii is the only airline touting a non-stop flight from the east coast (JFK to HNL)…which is a LOOOOOONNNGGGG 11+ hour flight. Nearly the same time as SFO to NRT or LHR to LAX. Lie-flat is needed!!!! Unfortunately, for us AA flyers, we won’t be able to redeem Aadvantage on the domestic flights to Hawaii, however; Hawaiian does fly to several International destinations: China, Korea, Japan, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Australia, and I believe you can redeem on those flights. Fly American to Hawaii and then connect on through with the new Lie-flat Hawaiian product to say….Tahiti???? Uh, YESSSSS
To make things even more interesting, if we take a look at the specs of the A330-200 that Hawaiian would be utilizing we find that it has a max range of 7200 nautical miles. You know…it’s only 6285 nautical miles from Honolulu to London Heathrow. Can you imagine?
What do you think? Looks dope to me!
