House Panel probes Airline Execs regarding oversold flights
According to Bloomberg, Oscar Munoz, Kerry Philipovitch (senior vice president for customer experience), 3 other Execs, and a consumer advocate will march to Washington to address Congressional concerns regarding consumer treatment after the, now viral, incident whereby David Dao was drug off a United flight that was oversold. Dao has settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed amount, but remains the poster child for what many consumers feel is a wholly unfair policy whereby Airlines can oversell a flight and kick you off it if they choose. What made matters even worse was the seat that was vacated went to an airline employee. The execs will face questions from the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Alan Levin gets into details, states the following
Since the incident, airlines have scrambled to change policies and offer bumped passengers greater compensation, and lawmakers have proposed legislation to restrict airline bumping.
