Last year Hyatt acquired Two Roads hospitality ( Destination Hotels, Alila, and Thompson). Since then we’ve seen award rates revealed for many of these hotels, as well as many Small Luxury Hotel redemption rates and benefits released. Yesterday, we learned more information regarding Alila, the high end, luxury boutique brand that has given Hyatt some drop dead gorgeous redemptions. The rates are super competitive and I’ve already began wanderlusting as to where I’ll stay first! Check out the rates and some of the properties we can’t wait to check out.

Oman

I’ve recently become obsessed with visiting. One, I’d love to stay at the Six Senses Zighy Bay, the Al Bustan Palace, and finally…the Alila Jabal Akhdar. Each of these hotels represents something completely different, but the Alila is something most people wouldn’t expect to find in the Middle East. A mountain retreat. How cool is that? And at just 25k per night…a very good option in peak seasons when rates can balloon. And look at the base room…a mountain view suite. Yes, please.

The only US property.

Ventana is the definition of aspirational. Think luxury cabin in the wood vibes, epicurean delights, the smell of wood burning in the fireplace, award winning spa treatments, and points being used to stay in a room that normally costs close to $1k. That’s Ventana.

South Bali Bliss.

The Alila Uluwatu looks unbelievable. Bali is packed with incredible places to stay, but when you see rates that top $600 a night, and the base room is a villa with a private pool, I want to experience it first hand….with points. At 30k, this redemption makes so much more sense than say…the Park Hyatt NYC which commands a similar rate for a base room. Just my opinion, but look at this spot.

Will the most impressive Alila be points available?

The Alila Purnama, an all inclusive boat that sails around Indonesia giving you glimpses of Komodo dragons and incredible vistas. Who knows, but I’d guess if it is, it won’t be 30k a night, but closer to 40k which matches some of the SLH redemptions.

Hyatt missed the mark with its initial roll out of World of Hyatt, but the addition of Two Roads and SLH have added a new value proposition.

Is it worth going out of your way to stay loyal to Hyatt for work trips if it means having more and more aspirational redemptions for your leisure time. It’s clear that Hyatt is carving out a place in the market for just this evaluation, and I think it’s a very smart play.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® ,  Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travelâ„  you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year.  It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
