Great location, cool historic property, decent value in downtown Cleveland

The Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade is just that…at the arcade. The arcade is a beautiful indoor, glass ceiling, arcade of stores, and restaurants. The hotel has rooms overlooking the arcade as well as rooms that face the street and city. Our room was on the 2nd floor of the hotel and face the East 4th entertainment district. At first I was a little nervous that our room would be loud at night given the location to the night dwellers, but in the end it worked out just fine. It could have also been because I was amongst the night dwellers catching up with my best bud, Dave, who lives in the midwest and drove in special to hang out. B-YAH!

The room was booked on a corporate rate, so getting diamond benefits was a little shaky.

In case you didn’t know, any rooms booked as part of a convention or often times through a 3rd party do not qualify for elite nights or stay credits. What a bummer. I wrote a very sternly worded letter to Hyatt customer service complaining of this, but alas, to no avail and did not receive points based off the room rate, or night/stay credits. If at all possible, for those of you traveling to conventions book the hotel yourself and get reimbursement. For points and Elite qualification purposes it is much more beneficial.

The bennies I did receive:

  1. room upgrade to a street view Deluxe King
  2. 1000 point bonus at check in
  3. breakfast credit at 1890 Restaurant
    • however, I had to write to Hyatt because my card was actually charged for the breakfast. After complaining it was reimbursed
  4. late check out of 4pm

My only complaint with all of this was the fact that I didn’t get stay and night credits!

The hotel is nice, and for the price, which was roughly $150/nt, it’s not amazing deal, by any means, but for a midrange hotel, smack near all the entertainment, the convention center, the casino, and the sports arena it does just fine.

However, for a points and cash rate…I’d say this is a great deal

  • Category 2 hotel
  • 8000 points per night
  • 4000 + $55

Our room was at the very end of the level the picture is shot from…level 2. Turn the corner to the right and it was smack on the left. The location was pretty ideal, really. There’s an elevator bank that goes to rooms in the tower as well as to the street level emptying out into the entertainment district. I’d mentioned earlier that the I was a little reticent of the room’s location, but it worked just fine.

Room was very large, with a small sitting area

As you can see we looked smack out at the Entertainment District. Keep it poppin’

Luckily the blackout curtains did a great job keeping the room dark as these windows are ridics! I love old buildings that have been redone.

Overall

The hotel is ideally located, freshly redone, and if you’re looking to stay on cash + points I’d say this is an outstanding deal. The rooms have been recently redone, the location is great, and the staff are accommodating. The only real hiccup was the breakfast credit. But, the breakfast was made to order and fully reimbursed ( once I wrote in ), but I believe the misunderstanding a regular occurrence. When I checked in my benefits were made clear and breakfast was mentioned. Overall, I’d stay here again, but if the price was competitive to the Ritz Carlton, which is nearby, I’d stay there.

If you’d like to stay here using points

  • don’t forget that Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to Hyatt 1:1
  • Also if you have a Chase Hyatt Signature Visa you can use your free category 1-4 night certificate.
  • cash and points presents the best value at 4000+$55
