I just received this email saying that my ITA Airways Volare status would be extended through 2023. There have been multiple reports that the benefits haven’t been recognized when flying on SkyTeam partners, so hopefully this gets integrated more next year. Personally, I can’t attest to this as I had Delta Diamond for most of 2022 through the targeted Amex status match. I will certainly report on how Delta as well as other SkyTeam airlines recognize ITA status. If you participated in this, keep your eye on your junk mail as this is where I found mine!

Below you can see the original post on status matching

ITA is a brand new airline out of Italy that is speculated to join SkyTeam…we shall see. I completed a status match request at the end of 2021 via my AA Platinum Pro – it was a part of my 1 flight will net me 3 airline elite statuses. Check your accounts because mine has now indeed populated.

This is the process I went through to match…

And my ITA account now shows Elite status, but most importantly it shows I’m SkyTeam Elite Plus.

This is pretty awesome since I could enjoy these benefits when flying Delta domestically in the USA as long as I attach my ITA Airways status to my membership – this should apply on award tickets I book with Delta miles as well.

SkyTeam Elite passengers enjoy benefits such as :

  • Priority reservation wait list (when fares permit).
  • Preferred seating.
  • Priority check-in counters.
  • Priority boarding or at leisure.
  • Extra baggage allowance

The Elite Plus-status level receives the above, as well as:

  • Guaranteed full-fare Y-class reservation on sold-out long-haul flights, at least 24 hours prior to departure.
  • Access to airport lounges worldwide, whatever the class of travel, for members in possession of a boarding pass, accompanied by a guest.
  • Priority baggage handling on arrival, whatever the class of travel
  • Extra baggage allowance

On their website it says, skyPriority services are recognized only on flights operated by ITA Airways; Club Executive Members will also soon be able to enjoy the benefits reserved for Elite Plus Members on SkyTeam alliance flights”

So the “soon be able to” I take it means not yet available?

Hey Mike – yeah that’s what I’ve heard – I haven’t used my personally, but other threads seem to indicate the benefits aren’t extended

Thanks for confirming Miles. I got this a few months ago same way you did. I flew a few Delta flights but never found a way to take advantage of the benefits so this has really been worthless to me. I don’t fly ITA at all (even when I was in Italy) so haven’t found any benefit for this status match at all. 🙁

I got matched to this through my SQ *A Gold status and got extended even though I haven’t used it. Will that get me into a Delta lounge on a domestic Y ticket?

I got a physical card in the mail a few months ago and tried using it while flying on Delta and they wouldn’t honor ANY benefits at all. They didn’t even let me use the Priority check in counter. I argued and they finally gave in but doesn’t seem like any benefits are recognized at all.

Are you aware of a way to enter ITA # into delta reservation?
