Who knows if those 90k Iberia Avios will credit, but here’s how I’m looking to spend mine.

Remember, this could all be cancelled, and the Avios need to be used by 12/1. But let’s speculate.

There is a lot of conversation circulating the points and miles blog space right now about Iberia and their 90k promo. If you’ve missed reading about it, check out GSTP, OMAAT, or YHBU. I won’t go into details about the promo as you’ve probably already read plenty about it, if not click one of those links, and instead will look at how we plan to use the points if we end up getting them in roughly 10 days.

First things first…know the charts. Here are the distance based charts for Peak and Off-Peak

These rates are one-way, but it’s important to note that if you’d like to utilize Iberia Avios to fly domestically on American, you’ll need to fly roundtrip

My top choice for redemption would be transatlantic Business Class on Iberia’s own metal for 34k Miles.

I haven’t reviewed the product, and what a great opportunity to do so.

Generally I find searching Iberia space on AA.com easier than on Iberia’s own interface, but totally up to you. Regardless, 34k miles and low fees is an outstanding deal to fly across the pond. You’ll find these rates for travel to/from Madrid and the East Coast, Chicago.

This sample is from Madrid to JFK

You could also fly from JFK to LAX roundtrip for 64k Avios on AA’s lie flat business class. Plus Flagship lounge access

Personally, I’d love to book a couple of these

Remember, if you’d like to do this with two people, Chase Ultimate Rewards is a transfer partner of Iberia, and you could shore up your account. This isn’t necessarily the most incredible redemption in terms of value, but seeing as tho many people would have picked up these points on the cheap – it could provide for a very fun trip for two people in a great product.

I also go back and forth between LA and Indianapolis a lot to visit family. This would give me “4” roundtrips.

Did you take the plunge? What are you looking to do with your points?

Taking the plunge as we speak. Don’t think I’m going to be flying first class with my points since I’m a newbie. Probably going to go to LA and maybe Miami from DFW. Hopefully these points credit! Thanks for the find.

Little confused about how you’d be able to find/redeem the Iberia Avios on an AA flight (the RT JFK/LAX for example). I know AA and Iberia are partners, so would this be an example of using AA to FIND an awards available flight and then simply moving to the Iberia site to use the Avios to book?

    • Miles June 24, 2018

Sil – you got it. Easiest is to search on AA for avail, and then book on Iberia. Should be 64k roundtrip. However be aware some people are having issues when newly forming accounts that their loyalty is being stripped from reservations. This must be on your booking to get credit. So double check and keep email receipts/intins

I did take the plunge. Most likely looking at a transatlantic redemption using the miles if I can find the space. It might be important to move quickly if/when these credit as many people will probs be looking to burn the miles quickly
