Last week I wrote about why I signed up for the 50k offer.

Then a few days ago Barclay upped their offer to 60k. SAY WHAT?! That’s one bad mammajamma of an offer. 60k sweet, sweet, Aadvantage miles for just a single purchase. There was no way I was missing out on that deal, especially because I hadn’t even received my card, let alone activate and make a purchase. Well, yesterday, I received my card, and instead of activating it, I called the number on the back for customer relations. I spoke with a rep and told him my situation, and was hoping to get matched to the new 60k offer with the same terms as my 50k offer. He said that seemed pretty logical, and filled out some paperwork to submit it on up the chain. He didn’t foresee any problems and said that I should receive paperwork in the next 7-10 business days confirming I had been matched to the new 60k offer. If you’re in a similar situation, in fact I’d say if you applied in the last 90 days, I’d HIGHLY recommend trying to match to the Barclay Aviator Red 60k offer as well.

Can’t wait to redeem some miles for Japan Airlines First Class. 80k from the states to Tokyo.

shout out to reader GlobalMatt for looking out.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

I did secure message and they said they could do it and submit it. Something very similar to what they told you. Hopefully will see the extra 10,000 AA miles.

    Thanks

Called after opening my account 60+ days ago w/spend and already earning the bonus, agent said the offer is targeted. I told her i wanted to speak to a supervisor, and 5 minutes later the same agent told me they would honor the offer. Filed a case w/ rewards dept, and should have the points posted by my next billing cycle (in 2 weeks). Thanks.

When I called yesterday, the rep asked for the offer code associated with the promo. I couldn’t find one. Were you asked for that?

Hey dude – I wasn’t, but I was just on an AA flight and they said that the offer was only available in flight or you could use the “offer code” off the in flight application to apply online. However, the online application doesn’t require a code to apply. I’d HUCA
