Head for Points has the scoop after years of speculation…what was Qatar Airways going to do with their new 787-9 business class? Would we get some new fantastic business class that puts the existing QSuite to shame? Will it be a marked improvement over the super diamond business class currently on the 787-8? Now we know…it’s somewhere in between. HFP has confirmed that they will use a new business class designed by Adient Aviation featuring a lie flat ( what looks like herringbone design) with doors. It’s certainly not the current QSuite, but still looks quite dramatic. If you’re up on the rumor mill…this is the same seat that American Airlines is looking to use as their new business class in 2023, but who knows how it will be configured. Many have speculated that this would be QSuite 2.0, and I guess It Is by name, but  Here’s a grainy look at the image released by HFP. The Adient website has great photos of the base product as well as a great promo video – here are a few snaps that will give you a good idea of what to expect. Personally…it’s a potential cool upgrade over the current Super Diamond seats ( I’ve flown them on AA and China Airlines )  but it doesn’t take the crown.

Note: all images are from Adient Aerospace

It’s interesting that Qatar appears to have chosen the herringbone design for the seat. According to the Adien website, the seats can be configured in numerous ways, so perhaps it was a dimension limitation?

What do you think about this compared to the latest QSuite?

I was lucky enough to fly in the QSuites in 2019, taking over an entire Quad with my parents and buddy Dave. You can read that entire review here. This new iteration of Qatar Airways business class isn’t anywhere near the QSuites which was flat out fantastic, innovative, and blew the aviation world’s hair back when it debuted.
