POP: Picture Only Posts. Welcome to AA’s Super Diamond

Let’s be honest. Sometimes you don’t want to read a whole review. So we have a series called POP: Pictures Only Post. Posts in this series will feature the product, minimal description, and focus on 5-10 Pics.  A more detailed review will come in the following week or two, but here’s a quick look at American Airline Business Class 777-200 Los Angeles to Tokyo HND.

A VERY quick intro.

I love surprises. If you didn’t catch my Mom’s Surprise Trip Around the World for her 75th, you should. Next up…my girlfriend’s birthday. I was able to snag seats redeeming Amex Membership Rewards through Amex Travel to fly direct from LAX to HND on AA’s newly retrofit 777-200. After the Amex Biz Plat refund? 60k total. What was even better? System Wide Upgrades were available at the time of booking, so we knew we could lock in a dope business class, and one that Miles and I haven’t tried yet.

The Cabin:

If you want the Super Diamond seats – which are pretty dope. You want the cabins to look like this:

And it’ll look like this. Front on the left, rear cabin on the right.

The Seat:

If you read my review of China Airlines Business Class it features the same seat as this AA 772, B/E Aerospace: the Super Diamond. It has a lot of workspace, and is deceptively roomy under the IFE, which is amazing.

IFE:

AA has one of the best selections of movies and tv shows in the air. They also have excellent Bose Headphones.

Amenity Kit:

The new Cole Haan kit. Quite nice. C.O. Bigelow products.

Always love a good ice cream Sundae.

Full review to come, but it was a great ride.

  • […] surprise birthday trip for my girlfriend. On the outbound we utilized systemwide upgrades to fly AA’s 772 in their new B/E super diamond seated business class.  Being able to cap the trip off in a truly world class 1st class was the icing on the cake. […]

Should be – as long as the seatmap is like the one I posted then that’s the aircraft and cabin scheduled for the flight. Could always have an equipment change.

Personally I think the for are cabin is much better than the rear business cabin. Everyone is different but you’re currently bulkhead of the rear cabin and when I walked back I could hear quite a bit of noise from economy.

Enjoy – I’ll have a review up in the next week or two. Thanks for reading!

With all the recent articles about AA retro-fitting their 777-200’s, it’s very confusing. I’m not a fan of the reverse herringbone design to begin with, but apparently the Super Diamond seats are the best of that breed.

In Late October, I’m on AA #26 Boeing 777-200 flying HND – LAX.

    We’re in seats 7H & 7L.

Are we getting these “Super-Diamond” seats?

    Regards,

Well being near the snacks never hurt anything except my diet. Thanks for the info. You seem to be the first one with the details on that layout

  • Stanley September 10, 2017

When I think I think of an adult with a stuffed animal obsession a particular predator comes to mind.

  • Bobmanjones September 10, 2017

How did 6L look?. I booked that next month LAX-NRT because it looked really private. Is it right next to the galley or is it offset a bottle and does the galley have curtains?

Trying to find out if the extra privacy is worth the potential light in the face the whole trip.

    • Miles September 10, 2017

B – if I were traveling alone it’d be my go to. The rear galley is used but the crew occupies the front one more. 6L is uber private although the snackfood setup is displayed there. It never had a lot of people near it

I like the monkey but I’m always worried you’re going to loose him or leave him somewhere. Do you have a back up monkey? (yes I’m serious)

    • Miles September 10, 2017

Chip hahha he may have some siblings 😉

  • MrCleo September 10, 2017

So since we agree, why don’t you keep your blog and start veering away from the silly stuffed animal?

  • MrCleo September 10, 2017

I enjoy your blog, however the Monkey thing makes it cheese.

    • Miles September 10, 2017

      haha you’re far too kind
