Rakuten has put a huge portion of their shopping portal at 15% cashback, or as I like to earn, 15x earn rate on Amex points. You may even find some trading at 90x ( lifelock ) or 100x ( NordVpn)
From May 6th to 13th Rakuten is having their annual sale. I’m not exactly sure if each store will run 15x the entire week so it’d be worth checking the site or the app to see how things change each day. Also note, the app sometimes has different pricing than the site.
Details of the 15x Big Give Week
- When: May 6-13
- You can use Rakuten or the Rakuten App – sign up here if you don’t have an account with our referral ( it’s currently offering an additional 10% back )
- A ton of stores will be at least 15% cashback or 15x points
You can earn cashback or Amex points via Rakuten
If you are unaware, Rakuten ( formerly Ebates ) partnered with American Express and gave its members the option to earn Amex Membership Rewards in lieu of Cashback. The rate: 1% = 1 Membership Reward. Read this article if you want to learn more.
Personally, I find this to be a far more attractive option since I value Membership Rewards anywhere between 1.5 and 2 cents. This current promo means you could earn an effective 21/ 28% back in the form of points.
Don’t have a Rakuten account? During the Big Give Week my referral will eanr you an additional 10% back on all your purchases for 7 days
Overall
15x as a widespread promo is pretty darn good. If memory serves, we’ve seen Black Friday pop up to 20x in the past, but I believe those were covid times and it wasn’t on the majority of stores. It will definitely be worth taking a peek to see if some of the purchases you need in the future can be made at a higher rate of return. I’ll likely buy my Nike’s that I really like.
