Review: Lufthansa First Class Lounge, Frankfurt Terminal 1

Skirting across the tarmac in the Porsche Cayenne is quite the experience. It felt like a commercial, actually. The rain was drizzling as my chauffeur weaved us in and out of planes, and then suddenly -BAM! We arrive. Terminal 1.  The doors open, bags pulled, umbrella popped and Miles struts to the sliding glass doors. Once inside and up the escalator, it’s a short walk to the Lufthansa First Class Lounge. I’m pretty sure some sort of worm hole has formed just outside the lounge because everything went into slow motion. The cool action movie slo-mo where you can see sound waves around a bullet discharging. Anyways…we were inside the Lufthansa First Class lounge, Frankfurt Terminal 1 and loving it.

Common Areas

The lounge is purely sublime. It’s peaceful, spacious, LUXURIOUS with office space, a bar, smoking lounge, restaurant, relaxation spaces, tv hang outs, bedrooms, and a spa. Try saying that all in one breath. OH…and they’ll just come get you when your flight is boarding. SAY WHAT?! I don’t have to be responsible for myself? YES, PLEASE 😉

After I was done wandering around the lounge and admiring literally EVERYTHING. I stopped back by the front desk.

I requested a bedroom to take a nap because I was ZONKED! I think I’d slept a whole 2 hours the night before as I needed to be at the airport in Dublin before 4am to catch my 5:55am flight to Frankfurt. THANKFULLY, the lounge has bedrooms and one was avail 30 minutes after I arrived. Time for some breakfast.

The Restaurant/Buffet

The food is outstanding. Everything is uber fresh, looks lush, and ranges from eggs to muffins and nuts. If you’d rather have something personally prepared, simply ask the waiter and order off the menu. I MEAN! Lux on lux on lux.

Once I was full up, I headed back to the Spa to sleep. Man…this is a lifestyle I could get used to!

My Big fat nap – Thanks Lufthansa Spa!

There is a menu of services that can be arranged for you if you’re interested. All of them are for a fee, but the availability was open. Someone came from the spa to let me know that the room was available and then also asked me when I wanted to be woken up. After confirming a 2 hour nap and Miles’ need to shower and get his swag on prior to the flight she left us in a great bedroom.

Right smack at the 2 hour mark there was a knock on the door: “Miles, it’s time to wake up… And your shower suite is available so you can look like €€€€”

I thought it was pretty awesome that she knew Miles wanted to look like money…but geographically correct currency. That’s the type of service Lufthansa First Class provides. It’s the details, people. The Details.

Care for a rub-a-dub-dub or a cuticle clean-up? Lufthansa’s got your back…probably in some sort of medicinally Germanic contortion, but they still have it.

The whole lounge makes you feel like you’re making it rain…but it actually did in the spa suite.

Who knew taking a big fat nap and making it rain could be so exhausting. But…I needed to eat again. Luckily the lounge was now offering some lunch. Losing touch with reality has never felt so good =)

Miles you ate a whole bowl a cheese! I’m not even mad

As you can see below I had a sampling of several different options and all were amazing.

Like all the other food in the restaurant/buffet – the lunch offering was outstanding. DO&CO rock. Looks at those desserts.

When you’ve stuffed your belly to the point that your inny becomes outty…you need something digestive… Like a drink or a puff on a cigar, right? Thanks Lufthansa – you hooked it up again.

Lufthansa poses an interesting philosophical question: What is top shelf liquor referred to when the whole bar is composed of top shelf liquor?

  • Tippy Top shelf liquor?
  • On Top shelf liquor?

Mind. Blown. Lufthansa offers the nuclear option of booze selections – everything is arguably the best, so how could I CHOOSE?!

Let’s take this convo to the smoking lounge dear Watson.

lufthansa-first-class-lounge-frankfurt-terminal-1-13-of-75

Maybe this was the origin of Ad-vice

Two gentlemen, Pete and Joe, were sitting in their smoking lounge enjoying some tightly rolled cigars when Pete fancied a scotch. He turned to Joe and said, “What you need in here Joe is a bar. It’s almost uncivilized to smoke these fine stogies without a sherry casked scotch to accompany it.” Joe replied, ” Pete you’re a wise handsome devil and we do need to ad a vice to this lounge. I’ll build a bar” And hence the term Ad-vice was born.

Lufthansa made sure Pete and Joe would never have to have that conversation again. They added their vices together.

I don’t smoke so I was just a visitor to the smoking lounge and quickly made my way out. I was supremely impressed by how little it actually smelled of smoke. Great ventilation. For the little time I had left, I made my away around a little more.

Work Stations

Immediately to the left after entering the lounge. Beautiful and private.

Conclusion

As I was roaming around the lounge taking photos with Miles and enjoying myself immensely – which never garners any attention or odd looks – I was approached by one of the front desk attendants. My flight was boarding and they would have a car ready for me in 10 minutes. It was time to Porsche Up. Love it!

After those 10 minutes, I was approached again, this time to notify me that the Porsche was waiting.  2 other guys were ready to go and we all headed out of the lounge and down a private elevator where the car was running and the seats were heated. BALLA!

MAN – O – MAN this is the way to live. LOVE LOVE LOVED this experience.

I read hundreds of these type of reviews/trip reports, and you are really the first person in a long time that is doing something different, both in writing style and with Miles.

All the rest just come off as a sub par copy of OMAAT/Ben, because they just can’t do it as good.

The style is what makes the 700th review of LH 1st tolerable (spoiler alert: its good. Lol).

Anyways, I really enjoy your fun writing style. Please keep it up!
