Columbus is a great city and the Westin Columbus is a beautiful, historic hotel worth checking out.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again, ” I FLIPPING LOVE HISTORIC HOTELS!” It’s true, I do. And the Westin Columbus is just that, a recently renovated hotel with old bones, new features, and a warm, pet friendly staff that will do their best to make your stay amazing. I’ve been to Columbus many times, but had never stayed at the Westin, so I was pretty excited to check it out. My girlfriend’s work booked us at the Westin so we didn’t really have much control over selecting the room, etc, but the Westin was a pleasant surprise.
The Westin Columbus was originally opened in 1897 alongside the Opera House.
The Westin website has a wonderful write-up on the history of the hotel and a video showing some of it’s progress over the years
The Deets:

Check-In
Easy peasy. After a fairly arduous trip from LA to get to Columbus, Miles and I were ready to get a room and take a nap. The check-in staff was super nice, quick, and this attitude and treatment was consistent throughout the stay.
The hotel’s lobby is its prize possession. Beautifully renovated and a great place to kick it.
The Room:
Not gonna lie. It’s teeny tiny, fold it up, put in your back pocket, but still quite nice, small. We were out and about so much that we hardly noticed the room being very small, but this would be one thing I would recommend to ya’ll reading this…go for one of the larger rooms.
I was quite ready to sleep…Miles had other plans.
The Gym
Good size and well equipped. We made absolutely no use of this nice facility.
Overall:
I think this is a great hotel if you have business in the city. It’s ideally located in the business district, within walking distance of the courthouse, and German Village is a short drive away. If you’re thinking of attending an event at the convention center, hitting up the Arena District, Short North, or taking in an OSU football game – it’s a good 30 minute walk. If you’re driving, no biggie, but there are a lot of other hotels that are much more convenient to those areas than the Westin. Miles loved our view…it’s a great place to walk your dog if you’re staying at this pet friendly hotel.
