Starting tomorrow, if you book a Southwest flight you will, for the first time ever, have to pay $35 for your first checked bag, and $45 for your second. The only tickets that would be exempt are Business, if you carry status ( A-List get 1free checked bag and A-list preferred get 2 free checked bags ), or you have a Southwest credit card.

Basically anyone that doesn’t have a Southwest Credit Card, status, or business select seating

- which will be replaced with Basic Fare for tickets booked on or after 5/28/25
- Wanna Get Away Plus
- Anytime fare
