United Global First Lounge Review: London Heathrow (LHR)

The United Global First lounge is located in Terminal 2, directly across from the United Club, which is absolutely fantastic! If you’re ticketed in Global First then you have access to both of the lounges, which carry the same open, bright, luxurious theme, but have very different vibes to them. First off, the Global First lounge is much smaller and feels in a way much stuffier. It’s open and inviting, don’t get me wrong, but literally no one was having a conversation louder than a whisper. Great, if you’re looking to catch up on work, awkward if you’re dining with someone else and want to laugh and chat.

I found it a bit odd that the Global First lounge didn’t provide at least 1 or 2 shower suites. There were ample individual stall bathrooms, which were great, but if you did want to take a shower, you’d have to schlep over to the United Club facilities. Seems counterintuitive to me when this is the premium lounge facility…but, purely nitpicking.

Global First provides A-la Carte dining services. Food was great. I had a the Salmon Eggs Bennie.

There was also a wide variety of treats, breakfast items, yogurts, and some nice booze. If it wasn’t 10am I would have treated myself to the Lagavulin 16…

Overall the lounge is great. Free WIFI, bright, luxurious and more than anything makes you feel as though you are in an exclusive club. The A la Carte eating option is great, especially if you’re nose deep in work or just looking for a restaurant style experience. Both of the lounges are absolutely fantastic, and if the only lounge you have access to is the United Club… you’re not going to be disappointed. In fact, I’d say I preferred it.
