Temporary glitch? Or Program change?

On Feb 1st, Bilt Rewards had a 100% transfer bonus to Hawaiian Airlines. I moved some points over figuring I’d either book some great seats to Hawaii ( StraightothePoints.co had sent out an award alert about a lot of availability out of Austin at 40k each way), or I’d redeem on Korean, Virgin Atlantic, or even JAL. Well…one of those options may be gone.

You used to be able to book LHR to East Coast for 62.5k miles each way + Hawaiian didn’t pass on as many surcharges so you’d pay hundreds less in fees.a screenshot of a white sheetVirgin Atlantic no longer redeemable with Hawaiian Miles?

I called Hawaiian today requested a Virgin Atlantic award flight that I saw available in a few days.  Hawaiian often doesn’t have access to all of the partner award space that you’ll see populate on Delta or FlyingBlue so I wasn’t surprised when I heard it was unavailable.  What I was surprised by was that fact that not only was that flight unavailable, but I was told that today redemptions across the board on Virgin Atlantic were suspended.

Wait, I’m confused…you’re saying I can no longer use my Hawaiian miles to book Virgin Atlantic flights?

  • Correct, as of today that is no longer available

Is the partnership with Virgin Atlantic over then?

  • No, you can earn Hawaiian Miles on Virgin Atlantic and vice versa, but not redeem

Is this a glitch, or is it permanent?

  • All I know is that as of today you can no longer redeem Hawaiian Miles for Virgin Atlantic. That’s all I know.

Is this temporary or has the partnership changed?

I’ve reached out to Hawaiian via numerous methods and haven’t received a straight answer. All I know, I can’t use my Hawaiian miles to book Virgin Atlantic and get the same response from
