2021 was the year of the status match, challenge, reduced qualifications, etc and 2022 is starting off much the same way. Virgin Atlantic is offering an instant status match to elite members of other airlines as long as you have a qualifying fare booked when you request the status match. Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
