Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities, and I would absolutely love to visit it sooner than later. With that said, who knows what the world will look like later in the year, if Hong Kong is a viable option, what lockdowns, quarantines, and all that jazz will be. But…with all that said – AA is at it again with their Web Specials, specifically targeting connecting flights through Dallas, and offering First Class to Hong Kong for just 84k AA miles. Normally, these would run you 110k at their cheapest level, but with AA’s new dynamic pricing, the sky’s the limit. I quickly checked a variety of dates, and it seems to be quite widely available in the schedule if you originate out of Boston, Atlanta, LAX, etc. The biggest thing to pay attention to here is the fact that you can’t make changes to Web Speicals. You can cancel and reinstate your miles at no charge…so if you did need to change you could cancel, and if the price is the same, rebook.
AA’s international first class on the 77W
I have personally never flown AA’s first class internationally on the 77W, but from what I hear, you get business class service with a bigger seat and more private cabin. For a 15 hour+ seat…I’d do it for the 14k extra miles it would cost of business class. You would also get access to international first class lounes.
Note…if you try to do it out of Dallas without the married segment…the price skyrockets

Tons of space out of Boston
They connect via Dallas

Space out of Atlanta via Dallas

And LAX

Who knows what the world will be like this far away
Obviously travel is still extremely stunted, but much of this award space is far out in the schedule. Despite the inability to change these flights, you could book and redeposit them without penalty. I don’t anticipate booking any of these myself, but there could be many readers who may benefit from these lowered rates.
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks! Booked a roundtrip for two for 174,500/person. It’s a great seat for such a long flight. We try to sleep as much as possible and do not drink alcohol, so this is perfect for us!
LOVE LOVE Hong Kong and this is a fabulous deal but it’s too impossible to predict international travel for this year. Most likely more cancelled trips. 2021 is looking to be even more restrictive than 2020 for international travel. Doesn’t look like Biden will make things too rosy for international travel to/from USA.
The biggest perk for AA international first is the ability to lounge-hop in HKG, and you are allowed to bring one guest with you. In addition, you get access to Flagship Dining. All assuming that at some point they will reopen.
The seat is bigger and more private (only 8 in the First cabin), and the food and wine is slightly better than business class.
Missing Hong Kong a lot, but not at all optimistic that tourists from North America will be permitted by Autumn.
I think I’d prefer to fly CX in J than AA in F, especially if I can avoid a transfer in Dallas or LA.

Completely agree
