MMMondayMemo: Fly Business, Pay Coach.
Each Monday, Miles has decided to drop a tip, hint, tutorial, trick that maybe you’ve missed or haven’t heard before. If you’re an expert in this field, some of these may be things you already know, but there are a lot of beginners out there who are just getting their feet wet which is why we created the Monkey Miles Monday Memos. This week we will explain a super easy way to fly business, pay coach.
I reviewed AA’s 777-300ER business class a few times last year. The coolest one was from Chicago to LA cause I only paid a domestic coach fare.
The trick is to find domestic routes selling 2 Cabins of service, but flying Internationally configured planes featuring 3 cabins like this:
See how all of business class is marketed as Main Cabin Extra…
You can actually sit in a business class seat, but get the benefits of coach. So no free food, booze, pillow, blanket, etc. But you’re still rocking a lie-flat product and flying business class for the price of co, co, co….sorry it’s always tough for me to say…coach.
How do you find flights serviced by widebodies? On American, you can use aacargo.com
This date has just passed, but AA0206 on June 2nd was operating a 77W. As long as that flight was only selling 2 cabins, you could secure a lie-flat 77W seat for the price of economy/main cabin extra. ( Which is free if you’re Plat, Plat Pro, Exec Plat).
You need to be aware that American does market flights on the 777-300ER ( 77W) as a 3 cabin flight from LAX-MIA regularly. So don’t think you’ll be able to do that if business class seats are for sale.
Hopefully this will help you fly the best possible cabin you can for your dollar.
