Rumor Alert: New 100k Chase Sapphire Reserve Coming August 21st

According to multiple sources there is a brand spanking new Primo version of the Chase Sapphire coming called the Chase Sapphire Reserve. It looks as though it is going to directly compete with the Citi Prestige and American Express Platinum cards. I’d have to agree with what’s going around the blog-o-sphere at this point – Chase has a huge gaping hole in its line up when it comes to premium cards. This new card is completely part of the rumor mill, but it’s being circulated by some of the venerable blogs like Doctor of Credit and Million Mile Secrets. It’s also on a few different threads on reddit and flyertalk. It’s even been confirmed that a trademark has been filed for the name: Chase Sapphire Reserve

What are some Deets?

  1. August 21st either announcement, application will be ready, or we will be hoaxed.
  2. 100k bonus
  3. No idea on min spend
  4. No idea on total perks
  5. Looks like 3x travel
  6. Annual fee in range of Prestige and Amex Plat: $3-400
  7. Probably metal but who knows
  8. Most everyone has drool stains
  9. This will be debated endlessly til August 21st.

Does the 5/24 apply?

Let’s keep our fingers crossed cause you never know…but probably.

Will Miles get one

He would swear off bananas to get one of these if it turns out to be true. But…Miles has also signed up for like 50 credit cards in the last two years, so the odds of approval are slim. Must start figuring out how to get Chase Private Client without 250k. Hmmmmmm

I for one really hope that they offer a promotion to upgrade people from Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve.

Pat – totally agree. It’s just that flipping 5/24 rule that may be troublesome. Does anyone know Rumpelstiltskin cause this Monkey is willing to make a DEAL! lol

With Amex Plat providing access to Delta clubs, and Prestige providing Admirals Club access for a while, I would guess the Sapphire Reserve would allow access to United Clubs. If you throw in 3x travel, primary CDW, along with the obligatory Priority Pass and Global Entry, it already justifies the $450 fee and anything else is icing on the cake.
