This is a very cool opportunity to stay not just stay in a 5 star hotel at a great price, but stay at the hotel that started a brand. That’s right…Did you know that the Park Hyatt Chicago was the first Park Hyatt in the world?

Rates, even in the dead of winter, aren’t usually cheap, but currently the hotel is offering a “Winter Sale,” with rates starting at $199 a night on many nights during December. In fact, NYE is selling at just $265.

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel 6 years ago when I first picked up a Hyatt credit card. Rates were through the ceiling and redeeming one of the two free nights I received ( after just a single purchase back then ) was incredible. In fact, it was the first time I ever took my girlfriend to Chicago – one of my favorite cities in the world.

You could also utilize Hyatt Prive, but you’d pay the standard rate.

Here’s December 17th.

For $66 more upfront you get all this:

  • $100 property credit
  • Room Upgrade
  • Daily Breakfast for two
  • Guaranteed 4pm late check out
  • Noon Check in

Virtuoso is offering the same rate as well with the following bennies

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily full breakfast for up to two in-room guests
  • $100 USD Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, excludes parking and dry cleaning, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

The other cool thing with utilizing one of these rates is you could throw 6k at it and confirm a suite. Additionally, come 11/1 it’s rumored you’ll be able to throw 9k a night at Hyatt hotels and lock down a premium suite. Who knows…this could be a great rate to secure a great hotel in a cool suite and pray for good weather 😉

Nice suggestions, Miles. Any idea what the dates are for Chicago Winter Rate? Winter there can last through June 😉
