Yesterday, June 25th, was a momentous day in the world of tall things with glass bottoms.
The great city of Angels will now put you one step closer to meeting them. OUE developed a whole experience downtown and it’s open for biznass. It actually looks pretty cool and the centerpiece is The SkySlide which hangs 1000 feet over downtown Los Angeles, stretches 45 feet from start to finish, and slides willing victims patrons down just an inch and a quarter of glass attached to the tallest building west of a Mississippi: the US Bank building. I’m sure there’s a grammatical error in that last sentence because I had to take two breaths just to read it aloud. Anyways.
Slide down some skinny glass a 1/5 a mile above planet earth?
Uhhhhhhh right. In fact…you enter on the 70th floor and exit on the 69th. Or is it exit the 70th and enter the 69th? Just make sure you enter and exit! Let’s just say you’re gonna have a ‘story’ of a trip. Heh, heh, heh.
I’m not sure I’ll be partaking, but it does took terrifyingly awesome.
Heights aren’t my thing. I could barely make my way across the Grand Canyon Skybridge without soiling myself, and Miles had to hold hands with some toddler’s Buzz Lightyear doll. I was tres embarrassed. However, the observation deck is a different story as you can see below. It’s a 360 degree, open air deck that you can walk around and see fantastic views from the tallest open air deck in California.
If you’re interested in going or want tickets…check out the official site here.
