Flying Blue Promo Awards – Special Edition. Book by October 20th

Every month Air France/KLM puts together a list of promo awards that offer discounts on certain city pairs. Some of the best deals in the past have put business class between North America and Europe in the mid 40ks. Those deals are fantastic, but these new ‘special edition’ awards absolutely put them to shame. Whereas other promo awards normally require city pairs, these special edition awards allow you to travel to any European city as long as you start in one of their designated origin cities. Econ, Premium Econ, and Business Class are all included. Business Class awards drop as low as 32k one way between Toronto and anywhere in Europe. How’s that for a deal?!

What to expect from Air France Business Class?

You can read our entire review, but I really enjoyed my experience from Paris to DC. Just make sure, if possible, to avoid the A380, and personally, I’d prefer to not fly on the 2-2-2 A330s which have been recently retrofit. The pic below can be found on the 787-9s, 772s, 773s, and I believe some A330s. Air France also has a new business class on the A350 which is fit with Zodiac Optima ( similar to what’s found in United Polaris ).

What to expect from KLM business class?

What you see below is what you can expect on most KLM business class flights. A 2-2-2 configuration outfitted with B/E Diamond seats that are fully flat. Personally, the 747 is a cool option if you can find it with its second floor all biz, but the best that KLM has to offer can be found on their dreamliners. These bad boys are fit with reverse herringbone Cirrus seats – much like you see above on AF.

These can be booked for travel November through March

Look at all that avail from Mexico City to Athens in biz for just 36k. I mean…yes!

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® ,  Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travel℠ you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year.  It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
