From now until April 18th, 2019 you can score discounted award prices on numerous routes when flying on Alaska metal and using their points to redeem. The main restrictions are travel must be at least 21 days from booking and there are some black out dates. Recently, there’s been much talk recently of loyalty program devaluations, and in this specific circumstance, the lowering of prices doesn’t concern me regarding a move to dynamic pricing for Alaska. I think this is purely a flash sale that will incentivize people to use up some of their points, and potentially underscore the advantages of staying loyal with Alaska vs competitors.
Some of the shorter routes like LAX to SFO are pricing as low as 5k, but even transcons are pricing in at 8k. Alaska puts their miles on sale on a quarterly basis with the occasional flash sale, so if you’ve been able to participate in those, you’ve more than likely picked miles up for roughly 2 cents. Applying that valuation, there are some great deals to be had. I’ve included various options, but click the link below to search city pairs that may be appealing to your travel plans.

Some of the deals:
Newark transcon from 8k
Out of Portland
Seattle
And then interestingly enough…better to fly into Burbank than LAX out of Portland
And then some that were randomly targeted to me
