*update – I’ve had several Instagram followers reach out and say they purchased Hilton gift cards online and it triggered the credit.

The Business Platinum® from American Express has a new statement credit from Hilton ( it’s active now ) that requires a Hilton for Business account ( if you don’t have one you’re auto enrolled ). It’s $200 annually, split into $50 quarterly credits ( if this sounds familiar it’s the same structure as the Hilton Surpass ). This is kind of annoying that it’s split into 4 quarterly payments vs 1 annual credit or even two $100 semi-annual credits, but historically, dining at Hilton, spa, or walking into a Hilton and buying Hilton gift cards has triggered the credit and then you can use them all together later in the year.a screenshot of a website

We’ve been keeping an eye on the Amex Biz Plat statements credits since the Dell and Adobe credits now have expiration dates listed as 6/30/25.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

    Zach – Two (2) questions.
    1) Do you live in Indy? I am a Hoosier who moved to Florida to escape the weather and the conservative politics, not that FL is exactly liberal.
    2) I am about to lose Hilton Diamond status. I have the base Hilton AMEX card but followed one of your strategies in the past to get Diamond status and I love it. I called into AMEX Retention today to see if I could migrate to the Aspire card and get the huge points bonus they’re offering new members with no luck. If I have to I’ll pay the $550 w/o getting any points as I love the Diamond benefits but i thought perhaps you might have a better plan. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey Michael – I grew up in Indiana so I have a lot of family there and visit often, and regarding the HIlton card, as long as you haven’t had the aspire in the past, there isn’t any language that would prohibit you from applying and being eligible for the bonus. Amex will also notify you ahead of time if you are ineligible for some reason, but I’d give that a go. Also note that 175k has been the historical high on the card, but 150k is pretty solid
