Amex Offers

If you’re like me, you’ve placed your fair share of Amazon orders, maybe you were even targeted to spend 1 Amex point and get 50% off your order. Well, Amex is back with another round of Amex Offers for Amazon, this time giving an additional 5x points, up to 2000 total points.  Whether you’re stocking up 5 pounds of sour patch kids, my travel book, or getting a scented candle and some massage oils for your anniversary ( if my wife is reading that’s a big hint )…this is a great opportunity to earn some bonus points!

Amazon Amex Offers

  1. Spend $400 or more get 2000 Points
  2. Spend $150 or more get 1200 points
  3. Spend $50 or more get 500 Points
    • Expires 12/31/2024
    • Up to 3 times
    • Not valid: Amazon Go, Amazon Local, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Home & Business Services, Amazon Currency Converter, Home Services, Prime Photos, Amazon Inspire, Amazon Video Direct, Amazon business, Amazon Global, or Amazon Drive

What are Amex Offers?

These are targeted offers that populate in your card account after log in. Typically they come in these variants

  • Spend a certain amount, get a statement credit
  • Spend a certain amount, get bonus points
  • Get bonus points on purchases with a certain retailer
    • usually capped a specific total, but not always

We keep 11 Amex cards

Here are the American Express Cards that I keep and links to why we have them in our wallet and recommend your consideration. The combination of Amex Offers and Referrals essentially give us a net positive when looking at a benefit to annual fee ledger.

Zach, I don’t have this offer, will I eventually get it?

It’s quite possible! Remember Amex will only populate 100 offers on each card, the more you add, the more you may get targeted for…that’s not a guarantee, but if you haven’t added any more won’t be targeted until some expire. So keep that in mind…simply adding offers to a card will help new ones populate.

What should I buy? My book of course 🙂

If you’re looking for a fast track to understanding points and miles…this is the book for you. I’ve filled it with everything you need to know from credit to booking your dream trip. You can buy it here

Overall

Great deal to earn something back at Amazon where, at least in my household, quite a bit of money is spent.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

    Good luck, thank you!

I got this offer. The T&Cs say “Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases”.

Does this mean purchasing regular Amazon e-gift cards would be valid? Any ideas? Any data points?

I was one of the OG’s when it came to points and miles. Was a lot of fun flying Singapore First on the A380, not once, but twice.
Sigh, those days are basically gone due to the fact people are writing books about how run on points and miles. Hope you make a lot of money doing whatever it is you do….sad.

  • James July 30, 2022

I never receive any of these Amazon offers. It has to be that my wife spends so much money at Amazon on both the rose gold and platinum card that I’m permanently excluded or something.

  • Jeremy May 24, 2020

    @Miles,

Why do you still keep an old Blue Business card? I would cancel it in favor of opening another Blue Business Plus card. The Plus is superior to the old Blue Business card in all ways.

    • Miles May 24, 2020

No fee and I use it for referrals…I have a blue biz plus as well – amazing card

  • Jinxed_K April 15, 2020

I got the +5MR/dollar on my Gold. Only thing I wish were these would apply to purchases from international Amazon sites as well.
