Amex Offers: GoPro – spend $200 get $40
In 2019, I launched a YouTube channel highlighting my travels as well as doing office style tutorials. Most of the video I shot over the last few years was on a GoPro. In fact, while my main style of shooting is evolving as I go forward, I still plan on incorporating a GoPro as I find it’s super easy to mount, takes up little space, and has the ability to shoot pretty great footage. I think a lot of people think of GoPro being associated with extreme sports, but for me, it’s proven to be integral in capturing flying in a far more discreet manner than other cameras I’ve started to use.
We have seen several GoPro Amex Offers in the past few years, but this matches the lowest threshold we’ve seen on spend. Whether you’re looking for a new camera as you start traveling again, or need extra accessories, this could be a good time to save some cash.
Why we love Amex Offers
I find throughout the year the savings that can be had by adding Amex Offers to your targeted cards can outweigh your annual fee without taking any other benefits into consideration. Maybe not the entirety of the $2000+ that I pay in Amex Annual fees from my 8 cards, but every bit helps.
Here are the 8 American Express Cards that I keep and links to their current offers and why we have them in our wallet and recommend your consideration.
- American Express Platinum
- American Express Gold
- 2 American Express Business Platinum
- 2 American Express Business Gold
- American Express Blue Business
- American Express Blue Business Plus
What I currently use: GoPro Hero 8
I still have my Hero 7 Black, but once we’re up in the air again post Pandemic, I’m looking forward to incorporating my Hero 8. GoPro has innovated further since I upgrade from the 7 and now offers a Hero 9, but for my purposes I think the 8 will suffice. It’s features a hypersmooth function and from what I’ve shot…it’s much better. That had been my biggest complaint with the 7: shaky results when walking, etc.
From my initial shoots with the 8, it’s been far smoother and 4k shoots in linear mode (the 7 was only fisheye), and the 8’s mount is far more integrated. You can use old batteries on the Hero 8, but it warns that some functions won’t work without the new Hero 8 batteries. Primarily this is because the 8’s battery facilitates a higher data transfer than the 7.
The Hero 8 Black is $279.99 and includes a year’s subscription to GoPro meaning you’d trigger the Amex Offer simply by purchasing the Hero 8 Black.
However…for just $70 more you can get the Hero 9 package…pretty great deal for the price differential
It may be worth throwing a couple new batteries on your order to optimize data , or even a dual battery charger on your package since GoPros eat batteries quickly. I get a ton of use out of my dual charger.
Here’s a look at the Amex Offer:
This offer is also floating around with a 4k Membership Rewards bonus as well.
- Spend $200 get $40 back or 4k points
- Must be purchased via GoPro.com or mobile app
- Must be done by 03/31/22
Overall
This is a significantly lower spending threshold than we’ve seen on prior GoPro Amex Offers which usually required $449 spend to trigger a credit. The ability to spend just $200 and get $40 or 4k points back is tremendous.
