Amex’s CFO says its customers are hoarding Amex points to redeem on travel instead of redeeming them for other goods or services. Count me as one of those hoarders. I’ve nary redeemed a point this year, and am highly anticipating great deals on travel in 2021, 2022, etc. If you’re not one of those hoarders, it may be worth checking out a promo currently running with Amex Shop Small. Until 12/31/2020 you can utilize your points by redeeming them with an increased valuation ( compared to normal redemptions levels ) on a variety of small business partnerships. It’s an option, but not one I’ll be taking advantage of, but it’s good to see Amex extending a helping hand to small biz.

As you can see…if you wanted the Luncher or some sweet smelling aromas throughout the house, you can redeem your points at a penny or higher. Typically I try and get at least 2 cents per point on travel redemptions, but if you’re not looking for future travel, or you’re sitting on loads of points burning a hole in your pocket – here’s another option.
