Check your Amex account to see if you have a transfer bonus to Singapore Airlines Krisflyer.  It’s been nearly two years since Amex has had a transfer bonus to Singapore Airlines, and the last time, it started out quite targeted, but then rolled out to a lot more people.

Here’s a look at the offer

a screenshot of a computerWhy do I care about Singapore Miles – primarily the US to Europe routes

Currently Singapore Airlines operates 2 fifth freedom routes between the US and Europe…and the rates are pretty good to fly in premium cabins:

  • Houston to Manchester
    • business for 81k
  • New York to Frankfurt
    • business  81k
    • and first class 97k

Houston to Manchester

This route is serviced by an A350 and runs 72k in biz with minimal taxes and fees. Since I’m married to a Brit this is a route that can make a lot of sense to us to fly in comfort and arrive rested.

a screenshot of a computerSingapore Airlines has a fantastic business class product, but the seats vary throughout the cabin. Choosing the right one can maximize your experience, namely booking one of the bulkhead seats. Notice the difference between having to angle your feet sideways into the cubby hole vs having a whole bench to rest your feet.

NYC to Frankfurt

Right now, this route is being serviced by an older 777. Now, don’t get me wrong, even the older 777s are super nice, but keep an eye on this route later in the schedule to see if they add the A380. Regardless, flying Singapore Airlines first class for just 86k points is amazing. With this transfer bonus, we’re talking just 72k miles to fly one of the best first class products in the world

  • 81k in business
    • 68k Amex with 20% transfer bonus
  • 97k in first class
    • 81k Amex with 20% transfer bonus

Here’s a look at first class on the 777.

Don’t forget to the Book the Cook  which is a service where you can select from a long list chef made meals. From personal experience the food Is tremendous and available on select flights from Premium Econ up to First Class.

Do Singapore Miles expire?

Yes, after 3 years, so don’t transfer speculatively

Overall

This is a great deal, but don’t transfer unless you have a specific purpose for the redemption. We’ve seen many transfer bonuses this past year so only pull the trigger when need be.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

Massive! I transferred the points last week and at the time was disappointed I missed out on the 15% bonus back in October. When executing the transfer the Amex MR portal didn’t notify me of anything regarding a bonus. When I checked my KrisFlyer account it reflected a transfer of 97,200 whereas I only moved 81k out of my Amex MR account. To say I was surprised but very excited was an understatement. This bonus actually allowed me to book two business seats from SFO-SIN instead of premium economy as I was short pre-bonus in total miles.
