I’m excited, but not for this exact offer.
It was announced last year that both Barclay and Citi would be able to issue new accounts in association with American with a caveat: Barclay could only operate in airports and in flight. But, that didn’t happen. Early this year, Barclay started accepting new applicants via the interwebs with a 40k offer on the Aviator Red. A Big high five for us point fiends. By mid-summer that 40k offer became 50k, and then it hit 60k after a single purchase! However, no business version was available and no new Aviator Silver applications popped their head out. HMPH! Things have changed and H/T to Reddit’s Jon Luca who found a link to a Business card. He found: an Aviator Business MC 40k offer after first purchase. YES!
- $95 annual fee
- reduced milage awards
- free checked bag
- group 5 boarding
- 5% bonus on all earned miles
- more benefits
My advice and what I’ll do.
One this is not an official public offer, but it’s still a very solid deal…40k after first purchase. In fact, I wouldn’t NOT do the deal, it’s just I think Barclay will more than likely try and compete with Citi. Citi was the reason that Barclay moved their offer up the totem pull from 40k to 50k and now to 60k. Citi is currently running a 60k offer on their Aadvantage Business Platinum card so I wouldn’t put it past Barclay to release the card and then pop the bonus to compete, or for the official sign up bonus to be 60k. I have no information that substantiates this claim, I’m just going off history and how I’m strategizing.
