Buy American Airlines miles for under $0.02

Almost every month American Airlines puts their miles on “sale” with some sort of bonus that effectively reduces the per point price to around $0.02 – usually a little over. However, this month, they just flat out put them on sale. This is a great deal for folks who aren’t looking to drop nearly $5000 on points ( I mean, that’s A LOT of cash.) to reduce the per point price to $0.02.  With this deal you can incrementally buy points to earn a bigger discount, maxing out at 40% off the retail price. This means that you can buy American Airlines miles for under $0.02 – $0.0192 to be exact.

The Deal:

U.S. to Japan on Japan Airlines First Class 80k or Business Class for 60k. That’s $1536 or $1152 for incredible products that would normally cost you $5-10k. They also serve $400 a bottle champagne. Trust me…it makes the ride MUCH smoother 😉 BYAH!

Or fly to the Middle East or India…maybe even the Maldives for 115k on the Etihad First Class Apartment. 115k Miles or $2208. Why fly in a seat when you can fly in an APARTMENT! Say what?! This flight can easily cost $20k+

Or keep it simple and Fly on American’s 777-300ER from the U.S. to Europe for 57,500 miles. That’s only $1104 to fly biz to Europe. Although I will admit finding availability is quite cumbersome, but is possible. It is a fantastic product!

Or Perhaps fly Cathay Pacific Business Class to Asia for 70k miles. $1344 to buy a splendid ride where you will lie-flat and be tended to like an heir to the throne.

Are there deals like these for Canadian airlines? For example Air Canada or WestJet .

Hey Danny – currently there aren’t any that I’m aware of, but that doesn’t mean they won’t offer something in the future. AA seemingly offers some sort of deal to purchase miles every month or two. Alaska offers something once a quarter. United…every few months. Thanks for reading!

If they go down 2 cents more they will be worth something 🙂

Don’t they offer a deal every year at .018 cents per mile? Maybe better to wait a bit also a bit dangerous to buy speculatively if you don’t have an immediate need.
