Buying points can save you $1000s on your holiday
Dreaming of a honeymoon in Bora Bora, the Maldives, or a getaway to New York – you know, when you can travel to these places again? This promo could be exactly what you need to jumpstart your honeymoon plans. Hilton has matched their best ever price on purchased Hilton points at $0.005 a piece. What does this mean? It means you can go from zero to honeymoon hero fast. Let’s take a look at this deal, what to be aware of, and some serious examples of how it can save you big bucks.
Points devalue all the time, so I’d advise you to heavily consider this when making a purchase, and only do so if you have a definite redemption in mind.
The deal runs through 12/31/2020. Get 100% bonus when you buy Hilton Honors
Normally Hilton limits the amount of points you can buy at 80k, but this offer, which matches its best ever, will allow up to 160k with a 100$ bonus.
320k points for $1600 per account.
Here’s the trick: You can pool up to 2M points from multiple accounts
You can read all the details here, but effectively you can transfer up to 500k from a single account, but up to 11 people can participate in a pool, and one member can receive up to 2,000,000 points in a given calendar year.
So that means, that you and your loved ones can all contribute to help you reach your travel goal.
Honeymoon Hack…How to purchase points for paradise.
Conrad Maldives. 95k per night, take advantage of pooling.
You’ll need 380k Hilton points to snag the Conrad Maldives, so if you’re starting from zero, you’ll need to pool. The cost? $1900 for 5 nights at a hotel that typically charges over $1k per night – and over $1800 a night in January! Remember, these are just examples and aren’t reflective of current Covid restrictions, so make sure you can get into your destination prior to buying.
But, let’s be positive, and take a look

Since Hilton allows pooling of up to 2 million points across multiple accounts, this deal is within reach. Note the most one account can merge is 500k.
Here’s a look at availability in Jan 2021 for 5 night stays.
And if you weren’t paying with points? Over $11k for 5 nights after you include taxes and fees
And just for fun…the Waldorf Astoria Maldives – arguably the best new Maldives property
120k per night. Or, 480k for a 5 night stay if you have elite status. Next September is wide open – just so happens both my fiancee and I are September babies 🙂
Here’s a look at September for 5 nights
Overall:
As we said in the intro, don’t buy points speculatively. Also we’re giving outrageously aspirational and insanely expensive destinations to show the potential of deals like this so keep that in mind. Don’t buy points to redeem at your local Hilton Garden Inn by the airport unless it makes sense. Crunch the numbers. We’re just trying to show you what’s possible, and what we’re truly shooting for when we buy points during offers like these. In fact, we purchased last year and wrote an entire article about it.

While these are good deals, you probably should have a note about Bora Bora rain in January – you are sending people on a honeymoon during their rainiest month of the year.
Two exclamation points in the title? Really? For this? You and Elaine Benes use your exclamation points recklessly.
I mean if you’re going to get upset about my grammar, let me do you a favor and say you should probably stop reading. I guarantee you have much better things to do then get upset over my use of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is NOT a good deal, as Hilton points are worth about 0.4.
It’s not a good deal if you redeem at that level, but it’s a great deal if you redeem for standard awards where value is much higher
I am not seeing the standard room rate on the waldorf astoria maldive property for September 2021. It only shows premium room @ 701k points/night! Am I doing something wrong or did they change the amount of points needed?
Hey Bhavesh – you’re not doing anything wrong at all, a lot of times these super premium resorts block standard redemptions – just keep checking back over and over again, and if you have a trip planned, the closer to departure the more space usually opens up. But this a good example of why you shouldn’t buy without a redemption available
Thank you for the info! FYI, I did a calendar check for all of 2021 and it seems they’ve removed all standard room options as I can’t find anything under that 700k/night from January through December. I will keep looking for a possible change but let me know if you see something open up. Thanks again!!
