If you’re unfamiliar with Hyatt Privé, it’s a VIP program whereby you get special treatment by booking with an authorized rep. You can read all about it here, but you can expect to pay the Hyatt Daily Rate and get substantial benefits.  It’s not avail at all Hyatt properties and has some stay requirements, so read that link if you’re interested in using it for your trip. I’m going to be trying it out soon, but wanted to Stack it with an upgrade. I had been under the assumption that this was built into the program, but actually ran into a bit of issue with doing it.

Stacking the benefits

I wanted to use points to upgrade my future stay to a suite at 6k points a night. Once I made my reservation through my Hyatt Prive rep, I called World of Hyatt to add it. They couldn’t do it.  The program is so new that the World of Hyatt rep didn’t even know what my rate was, but said that it didn’t qualify. Hmmm

I reached out to my rep.

She reached out to her contact, and was told that right now, point upgrades couldn’t be applied. In my situation only Explorist Club Upgrades could be stacked. That’s a big bummer. They went ahead and applied a Club upgrade to our reservation.

The next day we got a suite confirmation email

The Front Office manager was in contact with my rep and attached the Suite upgrade with points to our reservation. They also redeposited my Club Upgrade as it was redundant with the Suite upgrade.

My Advice

If you end up in a similar situation, I’d advise you to ask your Prive rep to see if the Front Office can manually attach your desired upgrade if World of Hyatt or another contact runs into a problem. It is possible 🙂

What I really like about the Prive progam over the others is often the hotels will confirm upgrades in as little as 24hrs after booking which is relatively revolutionary in the industry for a premium rate program.
If anyone needs a Prive rep I can assist, we’re one of the 100 or so agencies globally with access and you can email me via hello@hausoftravel.com for any bookings.

Unfortunately I have found the reps in Europe to be horrible. I would email and 3-4 days later they would reply with something useless. For example I asked once for any hotel within a 4 hour flight of doha that was available for a specific weekend. In the end I had to check myself. For upgrade I have found the Twitter team to be very useful as I would tweet and they would respond within 5-10 mins and very rarely without a positive message.
