Chase to Marriott 50% transfer bonus

Chase is running a 50% transfer bonus until 08/15/25 when you can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott. One thing to pay attention to is the changes Marriott has done to their award program which is fully dynamic now ( no award charts ). Also, don’t forget we keep an up to date transfer bonus page.

What cards are eligible?

Your card needs to earn transferrable Ultimate Rewards so you need to have one of the following cards to qualify.

As long as you have one of those cards, your points can be moved from Chase and into any of the programs listed below, including Marriott. If you have a Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Freedom Flex, Chase Ink Business Cash or Chase Ink Business Unlimited AND one of the cards listed above, you can merge those points into the account with transfer capabilities. If you’re unfamiliar with that feature, read this article.

What are the details?

  • Runs until 08/15/25
  • Increments of 1k
  • 1k Chase Ultimate Rewards: 1500 Marriott Bonvoy points

Is this the best bonus?

We’ve seen 50% transfer bonuses multiple times in the past, but I believe 70% is the best ever

Is transferring Chase points to Marriott a good idea?

Ordinarily I would say that Chase points are worth close to 2 cents a pop while Marriott are worth less than a penny. So, no, under normal circumstances I would advise against such transfers…but there is a always a caveat.

Super high end properties that are crazy expensive per night. For instance, here is a look at the calendar for the new JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll pricing in at 70k in off-peak “rainy season” and 109k around Christmas. I say “rainy season” since it does definitely rain, and you should be aware of that, but I went on my honeymoon to Maldives in rainy season and it only rained twice…once at night while we were sleeping ( we were there for 10 nights ).

With the current transfer bonus, on the cheapest nights you’d only need to move 50k Chase points per night to get over $1500 worth of value. When you factor in the 5th night free… you could do 5 nights for 280k points, or 200k points. That is $7500 worth or 3+ cents per point and definitely worth the transfer.

Marriott offers 5th nights free…

As long as you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, you get a 5th night free. If you were to go at the beginning of Sept, you’d pay 372k with a 5th night free, or 250k Chase points with the bonus

Crunch the numbers, the transfer bonus ends 11/15/24

If you’re sitting on a healthy balance of Chase points and looking to take an experiential trip at an expensive property…this could be a wonderful time to get more bang for you buck. If you’re looking at run of the mill hotels – personally I wouldn’t advise using your Chase points unless you’re getting more than 2 cents per point in value.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire PreferredĀ® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom FlexĀ®  and Chase Freedom UnlimitedĀ® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business CashĀ® ,  Chase Ink Business UnlimitedĀ® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travelā„  you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year.  It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.
