The Citi Prestige unveiled new benefits on 7/23/17. One of those was a metal card
I debated back and forth as to whether or not I’d keep my Citi Prestige after the new card benefits were announced, but ultimately decided to keep it. The 4th night benefit, annual $250 flight credit, and increased category retention bonus was enough to keep me around for another year. Now, if I was going to keep the card, I wanted the brand spanking new metal card, and I called last week to request one. A reader had commented on an old post that he had requested a new card and they mailed him another plastic one – meh! Luckily, I can confirm, the metal card is now being mailed out as a replacement.
Here’s the new design
It’s a great weight, a little lighter than both the Sapphire Preferred and Reserve, but carries a good amount of heft. The packaging was a simple white envelope, none of the new cardmember special packaging.
I didn’t request one and received mine last night. It did come in a box from MO with a pamphlet.
Just got my metal replacement Prestige last night. Comparing them side-by-side, I think the plastic card actually looks nicer. The black is darker and it has both the translucent blue window as well as the slightly offset logo which is a cool subtle effect. The metal one is just a plain matte, which looks bland next to the plastic card.
Plus the plastic one is thinner, which is something I value more than whatever it is people seem to get out of having metal cards.
