I recently published an article regarding PCR testing at the airport, and how it would be not only most convenient for me, but also cost effective. A comparably fast test in West Hollywood would have been $250…we paid $125. To put things in perspective, the week prior to flying to the Maldives I flew from England to Indiana on Monday, Indy to Atlanta on Tuesday, Atlanta to LA on weds, and then I was flying from LAX to Indianapolis on Friday, and then Saturday night/Sunday morning, getting on a plane to the Maldives via Doha. It as hectic and I needed to show a negative Covid test for my flight to the Maldives that was valid 96 hours in advance. Here’s how it went at LAX
LAX Fit to Fly testing pricing
We took advantage of the Standard PCR test that would provide results in 3 to 5 hours
The testing facility is adjacent to the parking garage that spans Terminal 5 and 6, and is technically across the road from Terminal 6
There was a queue of about 15 people and we ended up waiting roughly 15 minutes. While it says walk up tests are allowed, and there seemed to be plenty of spots available online, we did need to show our reservation number when we arrived.
There are several windows where your test will administered
We had our tests back in less than 3 hours
While you can certainly get free Covid tests at CVS that will give you results in 48 to 72 hours, I didn’t want to risk not getting our results in the window we needed to travel. It was $125 well spent…imo
