Earlier this year it was announced that Meridiana would be rebranded as Air Italy and Qatar took up a 49% stake. Qatar’s presence is handily felt as their A330-200s are currently operating the US routes, and eventually they will be replaced by Qatar’s 787-8 dreamliners. Once those dreamliners are operating, the routes between Milan and JFK/MIA will be great rides into Italy, and from recent searches there is decent award space available.
Qatar’s CEO has ambitions for One World to absorb Air Italy as a member airline, but that hasn’t happened quite yet. There’s still a way to search and redeem. But how do you find it?
The answer is BA.
BA is a great go-to for One World award space, and it also serves up a hot platter or Italian goodness with Air Italy. While it isn’t the most incredible redemption, at 75k, it’s an option worth considering….especially if Amex is offering a great 40% transfer bonus like they did last year.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
