Don’t have time to chase Elite nights? Book with a Privé rep

We live in a time where many people want to do things themselves, especially when booking travel. Most will flock to their favorite consolidator, pick their hotel and flights, and have it all booked without speaking to a single human being. But…if you want to get treated like a VIP (upgrades, breakfast, early check-in, late check-out, property credit, etc) then you will want to seek a Hyatt Privé rep. The program just finished Beta testing with 100 reps worldwide and is now expanding. Let’s take a look at how the program works, what rates and benefits to expect, and stacking options.

Which hotels are included?

  • Stay 1 night +
    • Park Hyatt and Andaz
  • Stay 2 nights +
    • Grand Hyatt
    • Hyatt Regency
    • Unbound Collection

What are Hyatt Privé Benefits?

  • Complimentary upgrade, if available
  • Priority early check-in and/or late check-out
  • Daily complimentary full breakfast for two
  • $50-$100 property credit per stay
  • Priority for connecting rooms

Can you Stack Privé?

Yes you can stack Privé with Hyatt elite benefits, but it must be booked through a Prive rep. So you can’t stack Prive with say, Prestige to get a 4th night free.

Without contacting a rep, what sort of prices could I expect?

The rep will pull the Best Available Rate or Hyatt’s Daily Rate on the website.

What are similar programs run by other hotel chains?

  • Four Seasons Preferred Partner
  • Mandarin Oriental Fan Club

Airlines issue more qualification toward status, for first class fares.

Hotels could give 2x nights/stays for higher rack rates.

I think the idea is a good one, although perhaps a less highbrow name might be prudent.

So no standard Hyatt hotels? Interesting.

Also, any idea what the criteria are for a person or travel agency to become a rep? I remember one blogger’s s.o. pronouncing themselves as a “travel expert” after just a few months of traveling and wanted you to use them to book hotels. Since I prefer real experience and expertise where possible, I chose other avenues, but knowing a bit about the vetting process makes it easier to find that person or company that’s not new in the field. Is there a list of reps?

Christian – I know right now it’s still in the nascent stages, but I wouldn’t be surprised that it doesn’t grow relatively quickly. I haven’t come across a list of reps, but if I do I’ll post a link. I may be staying at one of the qualifying hotels in April and am working out whether it’s cost-effective, and how the stacking with Hyatt benefits will work out. Will report back if/when I do.
