IHG 100k Offer is a total no brainer.

Just to be completely upfront, as of the writing of this article, I make no commission, referral bonus, etc off you signing up for a Chase IHG credit card. I wish I did, lol, because it’s truly a card that I love to promote and one that I happily pay the $49 annual fee. Why? Did you see the hotel my family stayed at in Cannes, France?!? The legendary Intercontinental Carlton? You get a free night every single year you keep the card AT ANY IHG PROPERTY IN THE WORLD. Add a few other perks, and a mega 100k sign up bonus and the Chase IHG card is a total no brainer.

UPDATE: NOT EVERYONE IS TARGETED via the link. Also, there as been success applying for the 80k offer ( which is public) and matching to the 100k (frequent miler). My apologies for the confusion

IHG 100k Offer is a total no brainer.

This card isn’t under the Chase 5/24 rule.

According to DOC, the IHG card isn’t regulated by Chase’s 5 new account openings in the past 24 month rule. So even if you’re a mega churner, you won’t have to worry about 5/24 disqualifying you. However, if you currently hold the card, or if you don’t, but you’ve received a signup bonus in the past 24 months you aren’t eligible for the 100k signup bonus.

The Biggest perks to me…

IHG 100k Offer is a total no brainer.

I’ve used a free night to stay at the Intercontinental Austin.a room with a staircase and a table

I have the card, but would love another 100k. Should I cancel and sign up again?

  • One, I love where your head’s at.
  • Two, Are you worried about 5/24 at all
    • It will add to this number
  • Three, You could buy the points for $500-600 when IHG puts their points on sale
    • is the added number to your 5/24 worth more than $500?
    • is it worth the extra hard pull, effect on your credit?
  • Four, If you do so, realize that you should wait 30 days before signup back up.
    • Chase has been known to reinstate closed accounts in that time period. Meaning…you’re SOL and lost out
    • DW at AYP had a different experience, so it’s not steadfast…

Miles I don’t need all the Fancy Schmancy stuff like you

You may love this card even more. Awards start at 10,000 points and go up to 60k for hotels like the Intercontinental Park Lane.

IHG also releases PointBreaks where awards start at just 5k per night. That means the sign up bonus could earn you up to 20 nights.

Having this card saved my family over 180k points on our $125k Surprise Trip Around the World celebrating my Mom’s 75th birthday.

All three of us carry the card. We used two free credit card nights for the Intercontinental Carlton which normally goes for 60k a night. We also redeemed 670k points – 67k were refunded back because of the IHG credit card. That’s 187k IHG points in value. Not to shabby for a $49 annual fee.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is great starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Chase Ink Business Cash® ,  Chase Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into the Sapphire Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee remains quite low at $95 a year and if you use the $100 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit via Chase Travelâ„  you’ll wipe out that annual fee every year.  It has great bonus categories and other useful statement credits to enhance your travel.

One thing that is a bummer is Chase lowered the transfer ratio to World of Hyatt from 1:1 to 4:3.

I love this card and have gotten an insane amount of value out of IHG points by taking advantage of point break opportunities and lower-cost properties. Due to the extent of their property network, they are really great when you just need a place to sleep on a road trip or an overnight layover.

Can confirm that they are still matching: my wife just picked up the card and got matched to the 100k offer from the 80k one she applied for.

The signup bonus is actually 105k (plus the 2k+ you get for the minimum spend), since you can get 5k for adding an AU. Since it will show up as a new account on the AU’s report, I have always successfully added myself using a nickname with the only result being that the nickname is now on my credit report under alternate names.

that’s the info JB!! such a solid valuable card. Glad you guys are getting such use out of it =)

I got really lucky with the timing of this card. When I picked it up it was shortly before they introduced the Spire Elite tier, and my signup bonus somehow counted as tier-qualifying points (apparently this only happened for a short window of time). This gave me SE status, the only real benefit of which was a bonus 25,000 points.

Then there was the Priceless Surprises promo, which netted me over 50,000 points in exchange for some postage and $20 to have a service write out all those notecards.

Overall with the signup bonuses, promos, SE glitch, 10% refund, 500 welcome amenity points per stay, point breaks, annual free night, and 35k points being given as a refund for the free night cert since there was something wrong with our room, we’ve squeezed over a dozen nights out of the program without spending a single cent past one $49 annual fee. And I’ve still got close to 30k left in my account!

Just paid the second fee on my card a few months ago (not churning it since I’m going to be under 5/24 soon) and I just used my second free night certificate to book the Boston Intercontinental.

Starpoints have flown me all over the world and Hyatt’s given me some sweet all inclusive stays, but I really do love this card and program.

Yo! Thanks for the shout out! To add, I closed and reapplied for Chase Hyatt within 2 weeks, confirmed via secure message I was eligible for the bonus, and after meeting minimum spend can confirm that the 2 Free Night Certs are in my Hyatt account!

So the 30 days is definitely not hard and fast… good luck!

did you try clicking through before writing this post?

    • Miles July 19, 2017

AL – thanks for the heads up…seems not every account is targeted and I’ll amend

      • Al July 19, 2017

No accounts are targeted. You can see this when you load incognito mode – still errors. Doesn’t ask for login and then error.

        • Miles July 19, 2017

AL – if you’re logged into your account and click apply now it will populate a 100k offer otherwise the landing page will redirect to an 80k offer.
