As the integration of Marriott and SPG continues, we’re seeing some positive developments for Marriott Timeshares owners who participate in Club points. If you’re unfamiliar, one of the best benefits of the program is the ability to convert your timeshare week into Club Points, and then use those Club points to access luxurious hotel properties the world.
Last week, those properties participating in the Explorer Collection were reduced to just 11. Now there are 90+ hotels listed as part of the program, and some pretty swanky ones at that. While some properties have been removed ( most notably The Mayflower in Washington D.C. and the Boscolo properties in Venice/Milan) there continues to be a steady drip of hotels added to the list. Even a few SPG properties.
My biggest hope is that we continue to see SPG properties populate the list. With several high end Marriott properties participating in the program ( Ritz Bali/Maui/Naples, Mandapa Bali, Travaasa Hana, many JWs) it would be a highly advantageous for them to leverage the portfolio with some Luxury Collection properties, Ws, Westins, and maybe even a St. Regis. Only time will tell, but it seems the list is continuing to grow, and with 90 properties to choose, there are some very attractive options for MVC participants.
