MMMondayMemo: Where your pet can poo/pee at the airport
Each Monday, Miles has decided to drop a tip, hint, tutorial, trick that maybe you’ve missed or haven’t heard before. If you’re an expert in this field, some of these may be things you already know, but there are a lot of beginners out there who are just getting their feet wet. This week the Monkey Miles Monday Memo focuses on those moments when your pet/service animal just can’t hold it. MMMondayMemo: Where your pet can poo/pee at the airport or more properly: pet relief areas.
As of August 2016, Airports servicing 10,000 or more annual passengers must have one relief area per terminal for service animals
For those of you who travel with a support animal or service animal these were actually designed for you. Buttttt, I don’t think there would be any objections for bringing a “normal” non-registered pet into this area for some relief. As a dog owner myself, it’s always such a palava to try and figure out what to do in the case of a long flight, delay, or layover. Certainly, these news rules make traveling with a pet much easier.
LAX is in the process of adding relief stations at all 9 of their terminals. In total – they will have 11.
Here’s what one of those look like just off Terminal 4 at LAX. It’s actually very clean, didn’t smell, and look like they just pulled toilets out and plopped down a fake grassy area. My dog made QUICK use of the facilities and was very happy for the relief.
If you’d like to browse a few websites that list pet relief areas…
