POP: Cathay Pacific First Class Boston to Hong Kong

Let’s be honest. Sometimes you don’t want to read a whole review. So we’ve created a new series called POP post: Pictures Only Post. Posts in this series will feature the product, minimal description, and focus on 5-10 Pics.  A more detailed review will come in the following week or two, but here’s a quick look my parents experience onboard Cathay Pacific First Class Boston to Hong Kong. Miles and I slummed it in business class 😉

All of these tickets were booked with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. If you aren’t participating in their loyalty program…WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! 😉 My parents used 70k miles to fly from Boston to Hong Kong and onward to Beijing. Mine was 50k. Our taxes and fees were less than $50.

Dad took 1A while mom had 2D. ICMYI – this trip is a complete surprise for my mom’s bday.

SHE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED!

My Favorite had to be the surprise birthday cake. You can order one ahead of time. My mom’s reaction was the best!

She said it was one of the best cakes she had ever had. They crew was so nice that they brought me up ahead of time so I could partake in the celebration. So incredible!

Pajamas, Amenity Kit

My mom loves them. She’s been wearing them ever since the flight.

Needless to say they loved it. My mom raved that it was the best flight she’d ever taken. There more First Class indulgence to come on this trip so it’ll be interesting to she what she thinks by the end.

There is currently an 80k offer after $4k spend in 3 months available in branch, and up to 90k after $6k spend in 6 months. I suspect some version of this will be online soon if you don’t want the hassle of going into a branch.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 60k is a very, very good offer. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back. .

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.
