Massive 175k Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Mailer

We launched a Co-brand referral site yesterday, and one of the cards we featured was the Amex Hilton Honors Surpass. I held this card a few years ago, but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth keeping in my wallet. A big reason was my fiancee picking up an Aspire, and since we can pool points, and the Aspire comes with Diamond status, it wasn’t worth the annual fee, or occupying a valuable Amex slot.

Interestingly enough, I’ve been getting targeted emails for the last year, and I just received the latest one.  It’s, by far, the largest sign bonus I’ve ever been targeted for, coming in at a whopping 175k bonus points.

Why you may want to get it if you’re targeted

The Hilton Honors Surpass from American Express is a very solid card and through the rest of the year any free weekend night can be used on any night of they year. The biggest reason I would go for this offer is the backdoor into the Hilton Honors Aspire.  Amex has been targeting Surpass cardholders with 150k upgrade offers which means you could end up with quite possibly the best co-brand card on the market with only a single hard pull, but 325k Hilton Honors points. Even with that…I probably won’t go for this offer, but if you’re interested, you’ll get the following bennies as well.

  • 12x at Hilton Hotels
  • 6x at Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Gas Stations
  • 3x everywhere else
  • Free weekend night after $15k spend
  • Comped Hilton Gold status
  • Spend $40k and get Diamond ( I wouldn’t recommend this route tho )
  • $95 annual fee

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.
