While I’ve reported on the expansion of Priority Pass into restaurant credits, I hadn’t actually experienced it for myself. After doing it in Sydney at Movida, I have to say…I may even prefer it. Airport lounges are great if you have a long layover, but often times the food lags far behind what you could get at a restaurant in terminal. Enter Priority Pass restaurant credits. I was traveling through Sydney, connecting on to Hamilton Island, and had roughly 45 minutes to kill. With this much time to spare, it hardly makes sense to track down a lounge, sit for a bit, and then get back to the gate. However, with Movida, I was able to use my Priority Pass credits ( $36 Aussie Dollars) a person, grab food, and whisk off to my connecting flight. I mean…how fantastic is that?
Details:
- Hours: 6 am to 9pm
- Located near gate 32
- Spanish themed restaurant with table service and take away options
Acceptance of Priority Pass cards are clearly advertised – $36 AUD per person for 2 people
If you end up charging more than the allotted amount, you’ll just pay the difference. Since we were under $72 we simply signed our priority pass receipt, and headed off on our way…which was about 20 feet to the right. We had to wait for our lattes to be made – THEN we were off to Hamilton Island with a bag of food, drink, and caffeine pumping through our veins. BYAH!
The menu
As you can see Movida has a great menu. While there are places to sit, we wanted to take away, and it was executed without a problem. This is a huge benefit, as we loaded up on a few bottled drinks, a couple of sandwiches, and coffees. In fact, looking back, I should have gotten a couple pastries. My Smoked Salmon sandwich was DELISH!
How we obtained our Priority Passes
Both my girlfriend and I have a few Priority Pass memberships. I carry not only an Amex Business Platinum, but a personal Platinum, Citi Prestige, and a Chase Sapphire Reserve. All of these cards come with complimentary Priority Pass memberships.
