Review: Grand Hyatt Taipei Grand Club Lounge

Straight up…I LOOOOOOVE a good club lounge. I love the breakfast, the canapes, the drinks, the smoked salmon, the space to chill, and I love that it’s kind of exclusive. Whether it’s Hyatt, Hilton, Intercontinental, Marriott, etc – Clubs provide a huge opportunity to add a little bang to the buck.  However…there can be some crappy clubs out there, so buyer beware. The biggest problem I’ve found when searching for the quality of a club lounge is actually FINDING the club lounge. They’re always buried in a review, I’m Guilty of that btw, so I’ve decided to pull the Club Lounge out and let it stand on it’s own two feet. Sometimes the hotel is great, but the club isn’t worth it, and sometimes the club is so great that it’s why I’d prefer that hotel. Anyways here’s the Grand Hyatt Taipei Grand Club Lounge.

Grand Hyatt Taipei Grand Club Lounge is located on the 22nd floor

entrance

It’s long and it’s strong and it likes to get its cubby seating by the window action on.

The Grand Hyatt Taipei Grand Club brings a strong breakfast game.

Is it the nicest lounge I’ve ever been to? No. But it’s VERY NICE and it provides A LOT of value. There is food throughout the day, and the breakfast is a legitimate breakfast offering. There are clubs out there that put some yogurt cups on ice, coffee, and juice and call it continental. That is not the case here. They put out a spread.

And had a chef making omelettes ( Egg whites, please) and some traditional food. Yes!!!! I got my lox and bagel.

At night they brought out a very cool Ginger Bread House

The evening options aren’t a meal replacement like breakfast. However, if you’re looking to sip some of that good, good – you’ll keep your whistle wet.

There were snacks, fruit, cheese, and a couple won ton, spring roll type options, but nothing that would sufficiently replace a whole meal. There were more people in the lounge for the evening spread, and it was a bit crowded, but there wasn’t an issue with finding a table.

Cheese with your wine. And BUBBLY!

More of that good good

Overall:

If there are two of you in the room, and you love breakfast, and may have a glass of wine or two – I’d say that this is worth the premium. Breakfast in the Cafe is roughly $30 a person…that puts you at $60.  The Grand Club is about a $75-80 premium if you were to pay for it out of pocket over an entry level room. If you’d have some snacks, or want a bigger place to gather, have some spirits, wine, champers, beer – you’d spend that $20 pretty quick downstairs. If you’re Diamond, or newly minted Globalist…you get this free. That’s a great perk. You could also use 3000 points per night for the upgrade ( which I’d say is a pretty decent value), but the premium out of pocket isn’t bad. Now…if you don’t drink or eat breakfast. Forget it. It’s not worth the premium and you can hang out in the lobby if you need more space.
