I never thought I’d want to sleep in Cargo. That just changed.
Airbus has teamed with Zodiac to create a bed experience in the cargo of Airbus’ A330 widebody, and down the road: their A350XWB. The concept would be that passengers would buy a ticket normally, and then, if the part of the cargo hold was allocated to sleep pods, they could purchase the ability to use one during the flight. This means that the pods would be moveable, thus allowing airlines to choose when to fit the plane with the pods and when to allocate to the space to cargo. The mock up looks quite handsome and reminds me of a tour bus. There are also mock ups that conceptualize family space, meeting rooms, etc ( check out the video). The airline manufacturer said that airlines would be able to put them into operation in 2020 with either new A330s or retrofit existing aircraft in service. PRETTY, PRETTTTTTTY, PREEETTTTTTTTTY COOL!
We are certainly in a new era of aviation. Check this video.
