Whenever I hear “Harry and David” I immediately think of expensive baskets of delicious sweets, jams, spreads, etc. When I saw this Amex Offer pop up, I immediately started to think of who I could possibly send a little treat to as a surprise. Then, I started to look at the terms and conditions and realized I could actually make use of it at any number of the Harry and David Family sites. Check it out, but it may be more appealing to many of you to use the offer at those places than H+ D.

ELIGIBLE PURCHASES: Offer valid online only at harryanddavid.com1800flowers.comcheryls.comthepopcornfactory.com1800baskets.comfruitbouquets.comwolfermans.comstockyards.comPersonalization.comSimplyChocolate.com, and Goodsey.com. Eligible transactions must be made in USD. Excludes e-gift card purchases and transactions made via Floriology.comThinkflorist.comBloom.net, NAPCO, NapcoImports.com, and Bayberryroad.com. See merchant website for shipping policy. Some merchants may not ship to all areas. If you order an item during the offer period but it is not sent until after 3/31/2020, it may not count towards determining whether the purchase qualifies for the offer. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date). If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the additional points. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional Membership Rewards points if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party. EARNING POINTS: Limit of 1,000 additional Membership Rewards points per Card Member. The enrolled Card account must be active, not be past due, canceled or have a returned payment outstanding to receive the additional Membership Rewards points. Any additional points you receive through this offer are in addition to the points you would normally receive for purchases charged to your Card, but the number of additional points you receive will be based on the purchase price after any credit or other discount is applied. When we calculate the additional points benefit for Amex EveryDay® Card products, points awarded under this offer will not be included. Additional points will be credited to your Membership Rewards program account within 90 days after 3/31/2020, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. We may not credit additional points to, or we may take away additional points that have been credited to, your program account if the qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. Terms and conditions for the Membership Rewards program apply. Visit membershiprewards.com/terms for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice. The value of Membership Rewards points varies according to how you choose to use them. To learn more, go to www.membershiprewards.com/pointsinfo. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer. Bonus ID: B5YH POID: K0MP:0002

Stacking this deal to earn even more

Once you add this Amex Offer to your card it’s automatically going to credit your Amex account with 1k Membership Rewards after you spend $50 at one of those websites. In order to fully extract max value, you’d want to use a portal to earn even more cashback, or points.

Personally, my favorite portal right now is Rakuten, but check CashBackMonitor to make your own assessments.

Rakuten allows you to earn Amex Membership Rewards en lieu of cashback: 1% = 1 Membership Reward point. The important thing to keep in mind here when making a decision of which portal to use is your own valuation of Membership Rewards. Personally, I value them at roughly 2 cents.  This means if Rakuten is offering up 10x, I think of it as closer to 20% back.

The reasoning behind this is how I redeem Amex points. It’s rare that I don’t use them for international premium cabin flights via a transfer partner. In these situations, I’m getting a valuation far higher than 2cents per point.

If you were to buy a $50 bouquet of flowers from 1-800-Flowers, you’d get 1500 Membership Rewards via Rakuten

If you’re unsure of how to earn Amex Membership Rewards instead of cashback, check out our guide. We walk you through the steps. Read it here.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex℠and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners
