Go here to see if you’re targeted

This is a really nice offer if you’re targeted- my Ink Business Preferred® qualified which is perfect for a travel purchase since I use it for much of my business travel. The big thing to pay attention to here is that the bonus must be a single purchase. Unlike other offers you may see which permit the spend requirement to be made over several purchases..this must be a single transaction . Also note that it must be made in advance…the “reserve now, pay later” options will NOT trigger this bonus.

In the terms it says that cardmemberss who have not purchased travel through Chase Travel since 8/15/22, and activate, can earn the bonus, and only one bonus per cardmember, whether you qualify on multiple cards or not.

    • flights, car rentals, cruises, activities, or tours through Chase Travel.

Remember – CSP $50 Chase Travel credit

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® comes with an annual $50 credit in Chase Travel™ and I don’t know why this wouldn’t trigger that credit as well which would be a great stack.

What are 20k Ultimate Rewards worth?

I peg them around 2 cents – you can see my point valuation table here, so this is pretty close to getting $400 back on a $500 purchase ( obviously you own’t exactly hit $500, but it’s a great deal ). The 10k bonus is a bit easier to hit I would presume since it includes flights which could involve more than one ticket…and you’d earn your airline miles as well vs hotels where you wouldn’t. This could be an easier get for many people and still a rough 30-40% return on spend.

Will I use this offer?

I have every intention on utilizing this offer on a hotel, preferably one where I couldn’t earn points anyway like a fun staycation at a boutique luxury hotel, or a good deal on one when we travel to England over the Christmas.

We keep an up to date spreadsheet that lists the best ever offers: You can find that spreadsheet here.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.

Main Cast:

Cards that earn flexible points and should be used on the bulk of your purchases.

Supporting Cast:

Cards that earn fixed points in the currency of the airline/hotel and can not be transferred at attractive rates. These cards yield benefits that make it worth keeping, but not necessarily worth putting a lot of your everyday spend on.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® is exceptional starter card and offers transferrable Ultimate Rewards, and pairs well with other Chase cards.

If you carry this card alongside Chase’s cashback cards like the Chase Freedom Flex®  and Chase Freedom Unlimited® or the business versions: Ink Business Cash® , Ink Business Unlimited® you can combine the points into Preferred account and transfer into hotel and airline partners

Annual fee is quite low at $95 a year + you get a 10% anniversary bonus on points + $50 hotel credit in Chase travel.

Can I book multiple 1 day hotel stays totaling $500 to get the bonus points; or does it have to be one consecutive hotel stay?

Hello Zach! Does it matter which card we use to purchase this offer? I was targeted for two of my cards, but it would not be on my Sapphire Preferred. Would this mean I have to do it on the Freedom Flex to trigger?

Kazimira – I don’t know why it wouldn’t – same goes for the CSP $50 Chase Travel hotel credit – nothing explicitly says that other offers can’t be stacked or wouldn’t trigger. I’ve never seen this offer in the past, so we don’t have anything to compare it to, but I think you’d trigger both. Let me know tho – would be a great data point!

    Hi Zach,

I was targeted for this offer, we are heading to Japan for spring break. In the Chase offer portal I also have offers for 10% cash back at Aloft and $100 cash back on a $500 booking in the portal do you think I can stack all these offers? Hotels in Japan are out of control at spring break. Type
