Roughly a month ago, in mid-August, I had made plans to fly from Singapore to Delhi aboard Singapore’s new Suites. We arrived into Singapore’s First Class terminal super excited, but…quickly realized we wouldn’t be making the trip afterall. Why? As I’d written more extensively in this post, I made the biggest travel mistake of my life…I didn’t get our Indian Visas on Arrival processed ahead of time.
We tried to visit the Indian Embassy in Singapore, as well as two processing centers, but as luck would have it, they were closed for a public holiday. Bummer. With batteries expiring, potential alternate destinations, and outbound flight options narrowing, we were able to book an absolutely stunning back up trip. Paris via Abu Dhabi, on a combo of Etihad First Class aboard the 777-300ER, a night in Abu Dhabi at the Ritz, and then a continuation to Paris aboard Etihad’s famed apartments.
Needless to say…I learned a valuable lesson regarding the visas, and also to just accept that mistakes will happen. Even to those who think they know a thing or two about travel 😉
Below, you’ll see the story as well as an in depth video review of Etihad’s First Class 777-300ER which we booked within 90 minutes of our failed Indian trip attempt with 90k AA miles and roughly $30.
