Choice Hotels is currently running a promotion that caught my eye. Not only is it a very good deal, but it’s one I utilized over 10 years ago when traveling cross country on a road trip. I was moving to Los Angeles and my mom drove out with me. She had spotted a similar promotion and we chose where we would stop based on Choice hotels. We ended up doing the trip in 3 nights, with the last one near Diamond Bar at the Comfort Suites, free of charge. The current promo rewards you in a different way: points. Ours was unrestricted. Here is the earning structure: Every 2 stays you get 8000 points, up to 32k total bonus points
The vast majority of Choice hotels are more than 8000 points, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still redeem like I did. A lot of the sub 8k properties of great for road trips where you need a night. However, if you’re planning on racking up the points with 4, 6, or 8 stays – you can get a much better accommodations at the more upscale Ascend properties and their partnership with Preferred Hotels. We just put a post out earlier that gives you an idea of how you can use Choice Hotel points for luxury redemptions.
One example is the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Just 25k points.

Historically 80k is a very, very good offer and hit in both 2022 and 2023. In 2021, we saw the offer hit an all time high of 100k. Who knows if that will ever come back.
